I've never shopped for "soy soap" before - are your prices competitive? Yes! Commercially, we have found two brands that sell soy milk soap. Archipelago Botanicals offers theirs at 5.2 oz for $8 and Fresh charges $14 for 6.6 oz! Here at Bella Soya, all of our ~3.5 oz bars are $4/each!
What makes handmade soap better than the major store brands? Major brands of soap are not "real soap". They use detergents, chemicals and artificial additives that are cheaper to manufacture than the 100% natural ingredients of real soap. Most major soap companies remove the naturally beneficial glycerin from their "soap" and sell it seperately! Basic cleaning properties are the same for both types, however detergents can strip moisture and natural oils from your skin, especially when the glycerin is taken out, and that can cause dryness and premature aging.
Why is shipping one bar of soap so expensive? We ship our soaps via USPS Priority Mail, 2-3 day service. They charge $3.85 for "up to one pound" in the nearest shipping zone, so shipping only one bar costs as much as shipping three. We add a small handeling fee to cover packing costs and transportation to the post office.
